Bay Area Eateries, Destinations #10-11
China Village - I thought it was fitting to order the first thing I ever ate at this place (which I, luckily, fell in love with): 1000 chili fish soup! White, soft, not-too-fishy fish (Rebecca, did you get hives afterward?); chicken broth; and clear mung bean noodles. The waiter skims off the “1000” chilies before serving in bowls. Simple, but ohh so tasty!
Ici - If I wasn’t lactose intolerant, I would love this place. But I also love cherishing Rebecca whenever she craves for something sweet :) Look at that line outside the door! I don’t remembering it being a hot summer night in Berkeley either. This shop features unique flavors that change every day (sometimes they change when you’re standing in line). I wanted to try a plum sorbet, but they ended up running out and switching to peach instead. Rebecca got Earl Grey tea (one of her faves). My favorite of the ones I’ve tried (yes, I’ve cheated) is the Meyer lemon with gingersnap pieces. Yum.
Oh, I will miss her.
